“What did you just say?”
“Huh… ” trailed of Roshni.
Rishabh felt an icy cold fluid being poured into his ears. He moved his fingers into his ears but could not feel anything there. The sensation made it difficult for Rishabh to hear anything. He also felt as if there was a drop in atmospheric pressure. He was breathing hard.
The machine had started to whine frantically. It was heating up. Another attack had started. It had doubled the firewall. The firewall was now thirty two layers strong. But something was really wrong. The guerilla were still able to penetrate the walls. They were slow, but were going strong. The perimeter wall was destroyed the moment it was created… they had made it up to the twenty seventh layer by now. C71 called out for help. A surge of electronic pulses ran out of C71. One of the guerilla diverted his attention to it. The messages had to be intercepted before they reached their destinations.
“Are you all right Rishabh?” asked Roshni. “Are you ears paining?”
Rishabh was on his knees. His palms covering his ears. Roshni was getting afraid. She placed her hand on his shoulder. Rishabh jerked on her touch.
“My ears… damn! hell!”
“You OK?” Roshni asked again.
“Yeah, I am better now. The pain seems to have disappeared now, as if by magic.”
“It’s because of the Healing Touch my boy” replied Roshni, smiling.
Roshni wasn’t smiling alone. C71 had it’s way too. The guerillas were not able to intercept eight of the million messages it had sent out. Their luck had run out again. The reinforcement had arrived immediately and the guerillas had to quit their mission. Some other day they will have him.
